“Solutions begin with small steps individuals can take to alter the way our cities function. We must reduce the amount of waste we produce and, at the same time, start seeing it as a valuable resource that can be re-used and recycled, including for energy”.
UN Secretary-General Antònio Guterres
The United Nations designated the first Monday of October of every year as World Habitat Day, with the aim of reflecting on the conditions of our towns and cities, as well as on the basic right of all to adequate shelter. The Day reminds everybody that we all have the power and the responsibility to determine the future of our cities and towns. In fewer words, we have the power to shape the place in which we live.
The theme of World Habitat Day 2020 is the following: “Housing For All: A Better Urban Future”.
